The Setting

Quiet climbs, cold snow, and a mountain that rewards the effort.

Southwestern Hokkaido is built for touring. Open bowls, the famous shirakaba birch forests and pillow lines sit within an hour of the Niseko resorts, fed by some of the most consistent, driest snowfall on earth.

Every morning your guide reads the snowpack, the overnight snowfall, the wind, the weather and the avalanche conditions alongside your experience, then chooses the zone and the route that put you in the best snow of the day.

Foot-powered climbs, long untracked descents, and the kind of quiet you only find off the lifts.

The Climb

A steady skin track at a pace set for your group, with time to take in the view of the valleys and Yotei along the way.

Mount Shiribetsu under a clear winter sky

The Terrain

Open bowls, spaced birch and natural features across the Niseko range and Shiribetsu, with a new zone whenever you book another day.

The Descent

Every line chosen for the conditions on the day. The reason you climbed, and the run you will be talking about at dinner.

Two Ways To Tour

Pure guiding, or the whole day captured

Every tour is led by experienced local guides from our trusted network, people we tour with ourselves. Choose the guiding on its own, or add a dedicated photographer.

Touring With A Photographer

Beyond the boundary, one job each

Touring terrain asks everything of a guide: the snowpack, the route, the pace and the group, all day long. So when you add photography to a backcountry tour, it arrives as a second professional on the mountain, and your guide's focus stays entirely on the terrain.

Eyes on the mountain

The snowpack, the route, the pace and the group. Your guide's attention stays on the terrain and the decisions that shape the day, from the first step on the skin track to the last turn.

Eyes on you

Free to chase the light, the angles and the moments in between. Keeping the energy high, and making sure the day you will remember is the day you get to keep.

Mount Yotei, up close

A day on Yotei-zan, or “Ezo Fuji”, Niseko's iconic conical volcano, is a bucket list experience.

When the conditions line up, it is the day experienced backcountry tourers come for, and the day they will never forget. Hike to the rim, then ride into the crater, before descending another 1,600+ metres in a single run.

How The Day Works

From the first message to the last turn

01
The Brief

Tell us your dates, your group's experience and whether you would like a photographer. We sort out any rental gear you need.

02
Read The Day

Your guide checks the snowpack, overnight snowfall, wind and weather, then chooses the zone and route for the day.

03
Climb & Descend

Pick-up from your accommodation, then a full day of climbs and descents at a pace set for your group.

04
Back To Niseko

Return transport to the Niseko area. With a photographer along, your edited gallery follows.

The Media

Relive the whole day

Your photographer captures the climbs, the views, the laughs at the transitions and every descent. Nothing to pose for and nothing to organise.
